‘Scenic Route’

Missing the turn off

from Grand Rapids south

to Duluth after

being welcomed and

Warmly embraced by

a master guitar

maker and his whole

family – already

Running late we find

ourselves taking the

‘scenic route’ north to

Bob Dylan’s home town

Hibbing – an hour

out of our way toward

a concert by friends

any poetic

Reasoning is lost

in our efforts

to catch the last set

of the performance

Never sitting in

the four special chairs

reserved for us as

their expected guests
