Water Escape

 

Unusually warm

The legend - Lake Superior   

Summons the traveling

Children to its sandy shore

 

Enticed into the surf

Getting wet with full abandon

Remember how to laugh

Be within the moment

 

Enjoy a water war

Refresh, recapture, treasure now

Splash and play as jet

Ski wakes make awesome waves

Sky Fire

 

After a

Long car trip

By a fluke

Taking the

‘Scenic route’

 

A fire

In the sky

Burning the

Last remnants

Of the day

 

We make our

Way to a

Place of art

Music and

Quiet peace

 

Stopping for

Refuge and

Rest at the

Domain of

The Goddess

‘Scenic Route’

 

Missing the turn off

from Grand Rapids south

to Duluth after

being welcomed and

 

Warmly embraced by

a master guitar

maker and his whole

family – already

 

Running late we find

ourselves taking the

‘scenic route’ north to

Bob Dylan’s home town

 

Hibbing – an hour

out of our way toward

a concert by friends

any poetic

 

Reasoning is lost

in our efforts

to catch the last set

of the performance

 

Never sitting in

the four special chairs

reserved for us as

their expected guests

Mississippi Headwaters –

Consciousness of Universal Destiny

 

Streaming from your mother’s heart

Slowly gathering momentum

You begin a heady journey

Flowing with a purpose

Final destination preordained

As others join your odyssey

 

You absorb them, grow stronger

You, Moon River, mature

Become the Mighty Mississippi 

Witnessing life on your banks

Changing, forever changing

Immortalized in word and song

 

You endure – different yet the same

Here at this and any given point

In time - You are the all 

The beginning and the end

Rolling from alpha to omega

Simultaneously being birthed and

 

Flowing out an old man into the sea

Endlessly ending the journey

That perpetually begins here

As but a trickle from

The bosom of your mother

At these - your headwaters
